Meeting With County Extension

Main goal of farm: produce as much of our own food as possible, along with some cash crops that help pay for farm operation. Current farm:

• ~3000 sq. ft. garden space
• ~1500 sq. ft. field for berries and fruit trees
• 3 beehives (4 would be maximum)
• bottomland with springs
• 48 sq. ft. greenhouse

Long-term possibilities:

• cash crop in bottomland (watercress? aquaponics?)
• chickens for eggs
• growing for kid farm stand, restaurants, and/or co-op–but not farmers' mkt

Questions:

• suitable proven cash crops
• organic certification appropriate for this size operation?
• best location for asparagus, berries, others?
• best use of bottomland
